Our non governmental, non-profit, organization works at the national level.
We consider ourselves as part of the international Independent Living and Disability Rights Movement.
Our organization is mainly run, controlled and represented by disabled people.
We have exprience of working in South America, Canada, U.S. and Europe delivering theatre and drama work. We have expertise in developing legislative theatre, forum theatre and role work. We work mainly in UK and most often are working in our own region, the North East of England. We are currently working on a three year study to look at `Breaking Down Barriers` within the cultural industries and are interested to hear from other learning disabled led organisations about their work and experiences. We also have learning disabled DJ`s who host nightclubs and other events in the community for learning disabled people they are known as The Krocodile Krew. The Liberdade Project is a group of young people with learning difficulties who are being trained in physical theatre with the object of running their own social enterprise, this group is also a Lawnmowers project.
