The Ability Center
Misson and activities:
The Ability Center is an independent living center that provides advocacy, peer support, skills training, information/referral, housing coordination and youth services to people with disabilities in the greater Toledo area.
Our organization has a policy for including people with disabilities among staff, volunteer workers and clientele.
Our non-profit organization works at the national level.
Our organization is mainly run, controlled and represented by disabled people.
We have expertise, or are interested in cooperating with other organizations, in the areas of:
Accessible public transportation.
Awareness raising.
Children with disabilities.
Coalition building and networking.
Education and vocational training.
Independent Living Skills Training.
Peer support.
Personal assistance.
Self-advocacy.
We can assist with arranging wheelchair accessible housing and transportation
