The mission of the Freedom Center is to empower persons with disabilities to enable them to gain effective control and direction over their own lives, so that can achieving and maintaining their desired lifestyle within the community with dignity. The Freedom Center believes that quality of life is dependent upon personal empowerment, demonstrable independence, and active community participation. To that end, the Freedom Center attempts to stimulate and promote a growing sense of empowerment, personal dignity, self-esteem and self-direction in persons with disabilities by providing, at a minimum, support and training through: Systems and Individual Advocacy; Information and Referral; Peer Support; and Independent Living Skills Training.
Our non governmental, non-profit, organization works at the local level.
We consider ourselves as part of the international Independent Living and Disability Rights Movement.
Our organization is mainly run, controlled and represented by disabled people.
